The Early Years of a Child are Vital to the Child's Opportunities as an Adult

In 2015, 1 in 5 Australian children started school developmentally vulnerable on one or more domains and there has been little change in this proportion since 2009. Children from disadvantaged backgrounds are more than twice as likely to be developmentally vulnerable at the start of school, and this number increases to two in five for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.

What's the cost of childcare?

Many parents are feeling frustrated with rising childcare costs and want a solution to the problem. Among parents with young children, around 2 in 5 say that kids and childcare are putting pressure on their household budgets and more than half (57 per cent) believe that the cost of childcare is a ‘major problem’ that needs to be fixed.
